Questions and Answers
The BESS™ Box is a new, patented fully portable fitness workstation that enables almost an infinite number of possible exercise routines for aerobic, anaerobic, plyometric, balance, and endurance training all in one compact unit. We call it “pure concentrated fitness.” It is the foundation of our franchise model for training clients indoors, outdoors, or virtually anywhere.
The BESS™ Box, therefore, allows the creation of a new type of mobile fitness franchise eliminating the need for a van full of equipment. Weighing only 28 pounds, it comes complete with all the accessories you’ll need to train clients. Since it is so compact (it has wheels and a retractable handle), it will fit in the trunk or back seat of most cars saving a franchisee from having to purchase a separate vehicle. The BESS™ Box also comes with both a ring toss and cornhole game, not only for social and recreational interaction but for also improving eye-hand coordination.
While we’re brand new to franchising, we’re also old. We’ve been training for many years: professional athletes, collegiate and amateur, track and field, boxers and MMA fighters, golfers, the disabled, the injured, seniors, youth, and teens. Now, we’re offering to share our expertise, learning, and experience to make the fitness training business accessible to more than just the elite who can afford to pay for high-priced Franchises.
There is no catch. First, we love what we do and are willing to share our passion with others who love fitness, nutrition, and training. We are small with virtually no overhead so we can offer a low-cost entry price; most all higher-priced franchises require you to pay additional for equipment and likely a van as well. We’ve made not only a low franchise entry fee for the first 20 franchisees but territory selections for the first 20 will be highly favorable. After the first 20 are sold, the cost for our franchise is likely to increase.
Please also note that while you do not need to be a certified trainer to purchase a franchise, we do require that you (or your employees) who train clients be certified. If you are not currently a trainer, we have arranged with the International Sports Sciences Association for you to enroll in their Certified Personal Trainer (CFT) program, or if you prefer there are several other certifying organizations we accept.*
Upon purchasing a franchise, if you are a certified trainer, you will be required to attend our one-day training course designed to inform you about the aspects of the franchise and the use of the BESS™ Box in training clients. If you do not have a certification, a two-day course is required.
*We accept the following certifying organizations only: ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, ISSA, NFPT, CSCC, IFPA, NESTA, and AAPTE. We will consider other certifications on a case-by-case basis.
Each franchise comes with our patented BESS™ Box portable fitness workstation that’s shaped
and sized like a cooler (note: the interior of the box can be used as a cooler for food and
beverage). One side of the box has a T-bar row platform for use in landmine exercises with an
included Olympic Bar. The other side has a loop for attaching a fitness (aka battle) rope
(included), an assortment of D rings for attaching fitness bands (also included), a smartphone
holder for watching videos, etc., plus ring toss and cornhole games, and a user’s guide. It has the
flexibility to train as many as four people in a circuit training fashion. Please see other sections
of this website for videos demonstrating the versatility of the BESS™ Box.
Included with your franchise is the Federal Franchise Disclosure Document, your Franchise
Agreement and Operating Manual which describes all the aspects and obligations of the
Franchisor and Franchisee. You will receive the Operating Manual at our training course which
details many of the aspects of your franchise, including how to use the BESS™ Box, sample
fitness routines, nutritional and weight management guidance, forms, and other important
details about operating your franchise. You will also be required to sign the Franchise
Agreement along with other legal documents that detail the terms and conditions of the
Franchise.
While the BESS™ Box franchise is designated as a Mobile operation, it can also be expanded to
include a Small Studio option. This is available for an additional cost of $6,000 and comes with a
plan design for a minimum area of 400 sq. ft. (approx. 20’ x 20’). This plan requires, beyond the
franchise fee, some additional equipment, office furniture, and other accessories for a small
boutique studio. With this option, you can operate both a brick-and-mortar facility and mobile
operation simultaneously if desired. Please contact us for more information about this option.
We also will provide ongoing operational support through text, email, phone, and virtual
communications. While we can hopefully answer many of your questions and concerns and
assist in the development of your business, you will be an independent business owner and
responsible for all aspects of your business including legal and tax matters, permitting and
following all local, state, and federal laws and guidelines as well as interactions with your clients.
Contained in your Franchise Operating Manual, Franchise Agreement, and Federal Disclosure
Document is important information including our ethics policy as well as other legal
clarifications. Please read and understand all documents carefully before you decide if our
franchise is right for you.
Funds for working capital are not included. You will also need funds for expenses like advertising and promotions, travel, gasoline, insurance, computing hardware and software,
communications, licensing and permits, accounting and bookkeeping, and other costs of
ongoing operations. The Federal Franchise Disclosure (FDD) document details these potential
expenses. While we do not require a separate van for mobile operations you will need a suitable
vehicle available for use in your business (we will provide a magnetic sign with our logo and your
business information). Specific vehicle requirements are also listed in the FDD.
While we do not provide separate software for accounting or tracking information, we will
recommend software you can purchase as well as apps that will be helpful to assist you in
running your business. We do reserve the right, however, to standardize software and provide
specific requirements for reporting and tracking.
Cost estimates and other relevant information are detailed in the FDD. Please fill out the
request for information section on this website to receive this document so you can make an
informed decision about purchasing the BESS™ Box Fitness Franchise.
Note: we strongly encourage you to explore other fitness franchise opportunities so you can
make a fully informed decision. Remember, consider all the risks involved. Does paying more for a franchise, even some nationally known brands, provide you with the rewards and risks you are
willing to take? Will making a significant investment risk your future financial stability? Your
success directly depends on your abilities, work ethic, strategies, tactics, development of your
reputation, client referrals, and the right economic conditions and demographics. Do the research before you invest even one dime.
The realities: some franchises will claim you have the opportunity to generate hundreds of
thousands of dollars in revenue. That could be great, however, revenue doesn’t necessarily mean
positive cash flow or net profit. Even if your revenue exceeds your costs, your operating margins
will include franchise royalty payments and other fees that might only leave you with a small
profit. When all is said and done, if you’ve borrowed a significant sum to start your franchise,
what will be left after you make your loan payments?
Through sales of fitness training hours to individuals and/or corporate entities. Selling multiple
training sessions for individual clients is a standard platform, but significant revenue can also be
derived from corporate programs and working with larger groups.
Training is always ongoing. We have mandatory one and two-day training courses for new
franchisees. Many Franchises require a week or more of mandatory training that is extremely
expensive for the franchisee. We have condensed the training to keep costs as low as possible.
We also require a fitness certification for all those who will be directly training and supervising
clients. A list of acceptable certifying organizations is listed above. We also provide ongoing
training support via email, virtual communications, and routine one-on-one sessions to
supplement your training needs.
As previously mentioned, the one-time fee for the mobile franchise is $9,000, and an additional
$6,000 for the Small Studio Option. There is a small royalty fee collected semi-annually. A
complete list of potential expenses is detailed in our Federal Franchise Disclosure Document
which can be obtained upon request.
Much depends on your territory, but typically you will be competing against other mobile
trainers, both large and small fitness centers, YOGA and boutique studios, community centers,
and in some cases even Chiropractors and Physical Therapists. Our approach is to separate our
franchisees by using the proprietary processes we have for customer service, weight loss and
the use of our BESS™ Box that can give us a competitive advantage.
We’re just a small group, but our combined experience in fitness, nutrition, coaching, and
business is more than significant. What we can provide our franchisees is a powerful
combination of skill sets that alone would be worth the cost of each franchise. Our team of
experts includes:
R.A. Freedman, Managing Partner and co-founder of Gol-Fit.com. Over 15 years of experience in
fitness, nutrition, strength and conditioning, weight management, and coaching collegiate
athletes. Co-inventor of the BESS™ Box, ISSA Master Trainer, and TPI Certified Golf fitness coach
specializing in Fitness Therapy, Nutrition, Longevity, and Functional Fitness. Former business
manager and financial consultant with a major international company.
Quincy R. Heard, Managing Partner and co-founder of Gol-Fit.com and co-inventor of the BESS™
Box. A Navy veteran with over 17 years as a teaching PGA professional and creator of
“Mindbender”, coaching essential to the framework of our Franchise.
Nate Moreland is an accomplished coach and trainer with decades of experience with both
professional and non-professional athletes of all ages. Competed as part of the NIKE running
